I lied. For years, I told people I left my job b I lied. For years, I told people I left my job because I couldn’t stand having to ask for paid time off, and the 30 minute lunch break. Because I wanted to travel. All true and honest. But that’s just the smallest version of what really drove me to leave my 9-5, and go into business for myself. The real reason is much more unhinged than that: I was called to do more, to create a greater impact, to call the shots in who I work with, why, and what I say. I was called to become my family’s first millionaire, be rich, generous, and live on my own farm in Northern Spain. I knew all that when I left. Saying “I just want to travel” was the version I could get myself to share…or just the version I knew people would be able to digest.
